SINGLE WOMAN FINDS HER FOREVER BOYS AFTER MOVING TO ATLANTA

Atlanta, Georgia is a growing city thriving with career opportunities and affordable housing. Many people come to Atlanta to earn a better living. Atlanta is also home to the Atlanta Braves, the arts, and film production. Out of all these wonderful things one single woman came to Atlanta with hope of economic expansion of her business but also stumbled across something far greater, she gained a family.
Winsome Sinclair is an entrepreneur in the Entertainment Industry; she runs a successful casting agency by the name of WSA International. The Brooklyn, New York native found success over thirty years ago working with Spike Lee. Through her journey, she has worked with big names and cast many big productions in the industry. However, as she reflects she has also found herself serving as a maternal figure to many who passed through her business.
As a child, Sinclair used to dream of being a mom. She recalls the time she read an article about adoption, "I was either nine or ten and I read this article about little black boys and it talked about how they would go for half price at adoption. When I read that it broke my heart and I remember praying to God that one day I would be able to adopt." Sinclair never believed that children had to be born of her body to be considered her own.
In 2014, Sinclair felt that she had hit a ceiling in the state of New York. She had outgrown her home space and she felt a sense of urgency to move. She packed her bags and decided to relocate to Atlanta since she would still have access to the film industry there. Shortly after her move in 2017, she was introduced to two little African American boys who had been placed in foster care. This came almost immediately after she had taken an accelerated program that readies parents for adoption. After meeting them, she knew they were hers. "I knew I was never meant to be a foster mom, when I saw those boys, I knew they would be my forever children," says Sinclair.

Fast forward to 2021, and their adoption is complete. After a long four-year process, the boys' adoption was legally final this month. She realizes now that she felt the urgency to move to Atlanta so that she could meet her forever sons. Sinclair is now an elated single mother to two beautiful black boys, Micah (7) and Kairo (5). She loves spending time with the boys and having conversations with them about how they see life through their little eyes and curious minds. "I never want to stifle what comes from them. They are wise beyond their years and 100% all boy," she states.

In their honor, Sinclair published a book last year called You Are My Sonshines: Born of My Heart. The book is a love letter to her sons. The book was released in November which is National Adoption Month. Sinclair also encourages families through this book to adopt children to fulfill the need of love and commitment that they need. She cites this experience as the most rewarding title that she has ever held. You Are My Sonshines is available for purchase on the website as well as Amazon.
