FORWARD FOUNDATION SERVING SINGLE MOMS IN CENTRAL VIRGINIA

Have you ever been caught in a tough spot where you didn't quite qualify for assistance but really needed help yet you had no one to turn to? Well, that is just what Forward Foundation is doing for single parents of Central Virginia. Forward Foundation works to assist single parents in the midst of financial hardship to move them forward through life's difficult circumstances.

The organization was founded in 2010 by a single mother by the name of Kimberly Baine-Tillem as The Sophie House to provide community support to single working mothers and their children. Ten years later the organization was rebranded and launched as The Forward Foundation where they have since continued to support, educate, and empower single parents to thrive.

Forward Foundation works closely with working single parents to offer a variety of services to help empower them to push forward through a financial crisis. The greatest need that the foundation serves is through providing assistance with childcare to help single parents sustain employment and ultimately gain financial stability.

SMU sat down with Andrea Starr, CEO and Executive Director of Forward Foundation to find out more about the organization and how it can benefit single mothers of Central Virginia.
